What I See I Am

      HE LEADETH ME BESIDE THE STILL WATERS

"HE" is God.

"LEADETH": When a shepherd leads his flock it is an absolute direction.  The sheep have no say so as to where they are going.  It is the same in our relationship with God.  God directs where we go.

"ME": This is the personal connection.  Notice the Psalm doesn't use the term us.  "ME" is an  individual reference.  "ME" is personal, direct, no room for being left out.

"BESIDE":  Interesting the Psalm doesn't say "in".  Here is where "free choice" comes.  God directs us "beside" we choose to partake as much or as little as we want.

"STILL WATERS":  This reference is not to a shallow stream or brook.  "Still Waters" means deep and quiet.  In the Bible "water" means soul.

"STILL WATER" will float, support almost anything.  God does not take us into or near a raging storm (which is some times depicted from some pulpits).  God brings the surrounding of quiet "still waters" as our environment.  If we choose to stir the water and make it choppy, we can do that.  When we are done stirring the pot, so to speak, the atmosphere or environment God has directed us to becomes quiet and still.

Within God's space all is quiet and still, deep and total.  All space is God's space.  We have the option of causing turmoil and disruption.  Our space is very personal, it does not invade God's space nor does it invade the space of others.

What others do in God's "STILL WATER" environment, doesn't affect us unless we take on their atmosphere.  To take on someone else's atmosphere is really a false notion.  We walk in God's "STILL WATER" atmosphere and create our own environment or interpretation of it.  No one can create our environment in God's atmosphere of "STILL WATERS".  They can strongly suggest.  They can pry upon our sense of fairness (which is a judgment on our part). They can try  to put us in charge of their environment or, at a minimum, share it.  The final decision after all the suggesting, prying and placing responsibility by others is with ourselves. We make the decision what to do with God's "STILL WATERS".  Absolutely no one else can make that decision for us.  Our life is our decision.

God guarantees the foundation of our life, our base, that stuff which our life is made up of is  "STILL WATER".

The Twenty Third Psalm

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
