What I See I Am

FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US

This portion of the prayer gives us responsibility.  It makes us the key to the forgiveness we ask God to give to us.

“..FORGIVE US OUR TRESPASSES..”

With this statement we admit that we sin.  Note that the PRAYER is still in the plural, US. So we recognize that MAN sins.   What ever the form the basic sin is our thinking we can be separate from God.

“.... AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO TRESPASS AGAINST US ...”

With this statement we are saying to God, don't do any better to me than I am willing to do to my fellow beings.  If I don't forgive a certain action or thought I don't expect forgiveness for that action or thought.

Now we begin to shape our lives.  Now that thought or action which we dislike and can't forgive in others is buried in us and not shown to God so God can forgive us and cleanse our lives.  There is a cosmic tie to that which we hate.

This portion of the PRAYER is the key to a wonderful life.  We must without exception forgive every thought and action we or anybody else has.

CAVEAT, to forgive does not mean you have to condone, like or be friends those are entirely different activities.

To forgive is to let go, no harboring of a hurt, no judgment of a thought or action.  The key to forgiving is let go and let God.

To reduce the need for forgiveness, reduce reaction to thought or activities.  Reaction to good or bad is an automatic judgment. Judgment separates us from God.  We are then judged as we judge.

We must first forgive ourselves for what we have thought or the actions we have taken.  Then we can forgive others.  Not to forgive self is an activity of Spiritual Pride.  We ask God for forgiveness and we won't forgive self the one activity we know we have control over.

If our prayers are not being answered we must stop - search for the unforgiven - forgive, then our communication to God will be greater.  Setting others free means setting ourselves free.

The beginning of forgiveness is the willingness to forgive. God then gives us the strength and the tools to follow through. Forgiveness is the way of God.

A good prayer might be "Lord I forgive, help me in my forgiveness."
